Dangerous Chemicals in Mattresses

Updated on August 24, 2020

Are You Sleeping With The Enemy?

Have you ever stopped to think about the place where you spend a lot of your life? We're talking about your bed here and hopefully you are getting good quality sleep on there.

Ever had trouble going to sleep for no particular reason? Do you happen to have a new bed or mattress by any chance?

I'd like to share an experience we had with buying a new mattress. Recently, we had some trouble with a couple of new mattresses that we bought from one of those discount furniture warehouse stores.

At first we bought what was supposedly a firm cotton organic mattress with a twenty year warranty. This firm mattress started to sag on one side within a few short months. Since the mattress was barely a year old, of course I went back to where we bought it from and asked them to replace the mattress.

When the mattress delivery day arrived, we thought that was the end of that. Well my friends, it was just the beginning.

Do You Really Have Insomnia, Or Is It The Chemicals In Your Mattress?

The Replacement Mattress

It seemed great until...

So the discount warehouse where we originally purchased our organic cotton firm mattress delivered what we thought was another organic cotton firm mattress. It looked like the other one and seemed firm like the other one.

What was wrong with the new mattress? We didn't know. It was really comfortable like the last one, it looked like the last one but there was a very big problem.

After a week, neither one of us were able to sleep on this new mattress and neither of us have ever had trouble going to sleep like this before. Instead of dealing with the headache of having yet another mattress delivery scheduled, we decided to stick the new mattress in the guest bedroom and put the old one back on the bed.

We had no troubles getting to sleep that night with the lumpy old futon, why was that?

Having Trouble Sleeping On Your New Mattress?

Why Can't You sleep On Your Comfortable New Mattress?

Did you ever have trouble falling asleep on a new mattress even thought it was super comfortable? Did you have problems falling asleep for no particular reason?

After one week of neither my boyfriend or myself being able to fall asleep on the comfortable new mattress, we made a decision that if we couldn't sleep one more night, that mattress was moving out of the bedroom and down the hall to the guest bedroom.

We put the old futon mattress back on the bed and sleep very well that night. So what was wrong with the comfortable new mattress? I don't know but I have my suspicions.
